Singing Revelation 19 Together

Posted on 23 March 2009 by travis.penn

On Friday evening of the State Meeting we had the privilege of singing Revelation 19 together.  It was quite a treat to hear everyone sing, especially a couple of boys from Mt. Vernon who sang with all they had.

The recording isn’t all that great, but I think you’ll get the spirit of the song as well as our fellowship from this special evening.

New International Missions Plan Involves Everyone

Posted on 13 March 2009 by travis.penn

everyone350

The new funding program from Free Will Baptist International Missions involves everyone.  Our hope is to reach as many people as possible, and that means everyone needs to get involved.

Our own Illinois Mission Board has developed a new plan to work together with the Everyone plan from FWBIM.  It is called the IGO plan, and you can read more about it on this website.

You’ll be hearing a lot more about the everyone plan in the days and weeks ahead.  For now, if you want to help out, you can prepare for the 2009 World Missions Offering.  You can just save up, but if you want to help get kids inovled you can utilize the WMO coin banks.

For more information about the Everyone Plan, and the WMO head on over to the International Missions Website.

Introducing the New ILFWB.org.

Posted on 11 March 2009 by travis.penn

We are excited to introduce the new ILFWB website.  The old one had served its purpose, but we have been desperate for an upgrade.   I think you will enjoy some of the features of the new website.  Here’s a few for starters:

1. You can subscribe to the news articles by email, or get them in your favorite feed reader.  (I’m an avid google reader fan.)  Just click on the orange RSS icon at the top right of the page.

2. You can actually comment on articles.  Have a question about Camp Hope?  Really enjoy the last Disaster Relief Trip?  Let us know about it.  Just click on the comments link at the bottom of any article to view or leave comments.  We’d love to hear from you.  (If you would, leave some comments at the bottom of this article to let us know what you think about the new site, or what else you might like to see.)

3. You can add content.  If you have information or news concerning Free Will Baptists in the state, we’d love to post it on the site.  If you’d like to be a regular contributor send us an email, and we’ll be glad to set you up with an account.  You can also always just send an email with the content you would like to have displayed.

4.  You can easily access news from other Free Will Baptist Organizations.  If you follow the right hand column down the page, you’ll see two “feeds” we are currently serving.  One is from the Media Commission and the other from the WNAC blog.  These articles will continue to be updated as the authors from these websites add information.   We hope to be adding a feed from ONE magazine later this spring.

We hope you’ll enjoy the new look, and more importantly an even better way to get the content that you need.

Disaster Relief Team

Posted on 08 March 2009 by travis.penn

Our Disaster Response team has helped people from Louisiana and Mississippi to Missouri and Indiana and right here in our own backyard in Mt. Vernon, IL. We are followers of Jesus Christ, who himself set the example of helping the helpless. He went so far that he gave his life for our sins.

Psalm 72:12 “For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.”

With this in mind the Illinois Disaster Response Team desires to help those in need during time of crisis suffering in a natural disaster. We want not only to help with physical labor, but in spiritual encouragement and in prayer. It is our desire to show neighborly love and concern.
