Some Q&A with Holly Petty of E-Team St Croix…
Q: You are the veteran at this E-Team stuff by now (this is Holly’s 3rd year). What was really special or unique about this year?
A: This year was awesome because we got to do some manual labor and some performances of our mime and singing. (Not to mention we had some time to do some sight seeing of some very famous places!)
Q: How do you think E-Team has impacted your life back home?
A: One huge thing I have noticed is my prayer life for the missionaries has grown. Also usually on E-TEAM you work with kids in Bible School or a kid carnival of some sort…when your there working it’s so difficult trying to help out because of the language barrier. You try so hard to get around it, when you get back home its so easy for me to get involved because I’m just so happy I can talk to them and they can understand!
Q: How do you see yourself doing missions as you move on to college and then later in life?
A: Well, I’m going to FWBBC this year to start on my nursing degree. My life long dream has been to go on the Hanna Project on one of their medical teams and help out.
Q: Tell us about your ministry in France, what new people did you meet, what kind of work did you do, how did you try to support the missionaries on that field?
A: We got to help with a Kid Carnival and be apart of the St. Nazaire choir when they sang at the festival. It was a great experience and I loved singing with them. We met a lot of people and got to know a lot of people because we stayed in homes and had host families. Most of the families had at least one person that spoke a little bit of English. Staying with families is always a blessing and an amazing opportunity to get to know people.
We got to help Matt and Cristina Price by repainting a lot of the inside of their home. It was time for the Bryans to have a visit home so we worked all day getting everything ready like cleaning, yard work, washing their van and packing.
Q: Did you have any moments where you knew God was at work in your life or the life of your team?
A: During the week of training there is usually a concert of prayer. This year during the concert of prayer God just spoke to me and gave me peace about so many things going on in my life. I really felt how much He loves me and cares for me and He made sure I knew He was here for me in my decision making as I’m going off to college..
Q: How has E-Team changed your life and what would you tell other students about this opportunity?
A: Yes, it has changed my life. It has changed my world view and opened my eyes to the world wide need for Christ. I think all high school students whether planning to go into missions or not should prayerfully consider going on E-TEAM.
