IGO Update – The Teagues

Here is a recent letter from the Teagues:IGO Teague

Dear friends and family,

As always it has been too long since we’ve written, but we’ll give an update of as much as possible on one page.

Last year Carol’s dad died two days before we were to arrive in the states for a state meeting and a short visit in churches in Illinois, Tennessee and Oklahoma. Because of cancelled and delayed flights, we finally made it to Ina, Illinois late the night before his funeral. Gilles and Anne-Marie Roger were with us and were such a joy and encouragement to us as we wondered if we would make it home in time to say goodbye to Dad. Even though he was sick he blessed us all by being baptised in his wheelchair at 89 years old, one month before he left us.

As planned Dennis was able to perform the wedding ceremony for Carol’s niece the same weekend. It was a beautiful, outdoors, fall wedding, but a very emotional weekend.

Anne-Marie and Gilles were thrilled with the welcome they were given by the churches and individuals they met. Gilles, who has been a leader in our church for years, has been doing Bible courses by correspondence because he has felt God leading him possibly toward pastoral ministry after he retires. (He can retire younger than we!) He and his wife have really been a help and blessing to us and the church here.

In less than a year we have had two baptismal services in which seven people between the ages of 16 and 32 were baptised. Both were good services with a lot of visitors not acquainted with protestant churches. One young man’s grandfather, who was really unhappy and uncomfortable in coming went to the front to say something at the end of the service. We were a little worried about what he had to say, but thank the Lord he had been touched in a good way. He thanked our church for all that we had done in the life of his grandson and asked that we keep praying for the grandson and all the family.

After our last JCrois conference, Raphael Anzenberger, our speaker suggested that we do the same conference in another city. So we organized that in May at a Christian camp in St. Lunaire, a two hour drive from us. There were 66 young people participating, and they seemed to really appreciate the weekend. Twenty five of these young people who feel called to a special ministry were prayed for. It was a lot of work for us, but we also learned a lot about how we could improve for the next time. Every experience is an opportunity to learn.

Here in St. Sebastien, Dennis has given up his roles as a pastor and as part of the leadership team so that the church can take care of itself, which has been our goal, of course. The leaders are capable of taking care of the church, but since the transition there seems to be more and more problems—marriage, family, interpersonal relationships….and in all age groups. We feel that the enemy is attacking because the church is advancing, and standing on its own. Now that we are not so our not so involved it gives us time to look to a new ministry in the area.

When you read this letter and think of us in the future, please pray for the St.Sebastien Church, its members and its leaders, that they will be strong and that they will be protected from Satan’s attacks. We appreciate your prayers as we change roles and look to a new ministry.

Thank you for your support of us in the past and as we continue to serve our God here in
France.
