Floyd E. Ponyi
Floyd E. “Flip” Ponyi, age 74, of Nashville, formerly of Walnut Hill, passed away Monday, April 9th at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. Mr. Ponyi was a retired oil field driller most recently working for Oelze Equipment Company in Nashville. He was a member of Pleasant View Free Will Baptist church in Walnut Hill and enjoyed deer hunting.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 14th at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. David Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City. Friends may call from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Washington County Partner’s for Pets. Survivors include his wife Sylvia Ponyi of Nashville, son, Michael Ponyi of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Tamara Ponyi of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren: Floyd Ponyi and wife Amanda, Morgan Ponyi, Colin Ponyi; step sons: David Zapp and special friend Deborah Schultz. of Nashville, TN, Gary Zapp and wife Connie and Randy Zapp and wife Rhonda both of New Minden, Jeffrey Zapp and wife Carla of Addieville, Corey Zapp and wife Angela of Nashville, IL; step daughter, Vallie Gould and husband Gary of Rochester, IL; sisters, Violetta Irvin and Phyllis Chaddick and husband Merle both of Wildwood, FL; along with several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Floyd Ponyi was born on October 20, 1937 in Shattuc, IL. the son of Anthony and Lucille Merten Ponyi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lela Trotter, and a son, Richard Ponyi.
