DUANE LEONARD CULLI, 45, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:41 P.M. at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He was born on Monday, February 11, 1963 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the son of Gary Leonard Culli and Elizabeth Jeanne (Wilderman) Culli. FUNERAL SERVICES: were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church in Bonnie, Illinois. Reverend Tom Skinner and Pastor Brett Minor officiated. VISITATION: was held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church in Bonnie, Illinois. INTERMENT: Cubb Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois. Surviving family members include his Mother: Jeanne Culli of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Maternal Grandfather: Floyd Wilderman of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Sister: Kathy Scott and husband Alan of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer Scott, Kristina Scott and special friend Josh Slininger, Kristopher Scott and Mickel Scott all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. His father: Gary Culli, aunt: Brenda Kubis, his paternal grandparents: Virgil and Maxine Culli, maternal grandmother: Mildred Wilderman and two uncles: Lester Neal and Bill Price preceded him in death. Duane attatined his Masters Degree in History at S.I.U. Carbondale; he taught History and Governement at Rend Lake College for several years, was active in High School and college music and theater and held leading roles in local productions, was a member of Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church, taught Bible School and played in the Praise Band at the church. Duane was very close to his family and visited many area nursing homes with his mother and grandfather, singing songs and telling stories to entertain the residents. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the The Bell Tower Fund at Bakerville Free Will Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
